Configure LCP Echo

Process
- From the Start Button click Run
- Enter telnet 192.168.0.1 (i.e. the IP address of the Axesstel unit) then click OK
- From the login screen enter the password (default is admin)
- Run the program sysconf2
- Select 5. Advanced Setup from menu
- Select 5. PPP/LCP Parameters from sub menu
- In View mode the current settings are displayed.
- Press enter to return to the menu and change to Set mode by pressing c
- Select 5. PPP/LCP Parameters
- Enter the required parameters (See notes below)
- Press s to save configuration
- Change to View mode by pressing c
- Select 5. PPP/LCP Parameters to view and confirm the rules, press enter to return to the menu
- Press b to return to the main menu
- Press q to quit back to the command line
- Type reboot to restart the unit and enable the LCP feature
- Close the Telnet window by clicking the X in the top-right corner of the window
Notes
- lcp-echo-failure and lcp-echo-interval are the only settings that should normally be adjusted.
- lcp-max-configure, lcp-max-failure and lcp-max-terminate may need to be adjusted in areas that suffer high disconnection rates. Please Contact us to discuss alternatives before adjusting these settings
- debug nDescription: Enables connection debugging facilities. Only to be used in conjunction with an APT Support Technician. Default: 0 (Disabled)
- lcp-echo-failure nWill presume the peer to be dead if n echo-requests are sent without receiving a valid echo-reply. If this count is exceeded the connection will be re-established. Default: 2
- lcp-echo-interval n
Send an LCP echo-request to the peer every n seconds. Normally the peer should respond to the echo-request by sending an echo-reply. Default: 7200 (2 hours) - lcp-max-configure n
Set the maximum number of LCP configure-request transmissions to n. Default: 5 - lcp-max-failure n
Set the maximum number of LCP configure-NAKs returned before starting to send configure-Rejects instead to n. Default: 5 - lcp-max-terminate n
Set the maximum number of LCP terminate-request transmissions to n. Default: 2
